skitta
hi i live on the northside of brisbane and woke up this morning to find one of my yellows dead in my pond. i fear more will die due to the water temp. i'm asking for your help/knowledge about heating my outdoor pond. is it even possible? or am i going to have to relocate them to a tank inside. cheers for your help guys
Aldobug
i think heating a pond is a very expensive excersise. Best option would be put them in a tank with a heater
regani
depending on how big the pond is, you could try to cover it with a styrofoam cover during the night when it is coldest. it will keep some of the heat in the pond, but you'll have to remove it during the day to let the pond warm up and make sure the water stays sufficiently oxygenated. not sure if it will work for extended cold spells as you will loose a lot heat through the ground. best option is to get them inside in a tank with a heater. DeadFishFloating
you are looking at prob over $1000 to heat a outside pond over winter. I'd setup a new heated tank inside. and I'd do it soon. lose 1 to cold, and it means you could easily lose them all.
