hey guys

one of my male Rostratus seems to have a dislocated lip by the looks of things so ive got a few questions

1. does it happen often with them?

2. how can i fix it?

i believe its from fighting as its one of the larger ones who has it and i have seen the male locking lips with the dominate male so i think its from it

I think that is a deformity. put a pic up. have u got evidence that he didn't have it before?

I think ur full o shit n don't know what ur talking about.

I wouldn't have brought the fish if it was deformed.

He's eating pretty well still so I might have to see if I can pop it back in.

I'm pretty sure he would have got it fighting the Dom male.

Anyways thanks for the help

Hey Cav,

I had a large chocolate Cichlid that had lips issues, it had been fighting with my festae and the lips of the Choc became all deformed looking, and the actual lips looked to be partly hanging off. In this case, with a bit of TLC and hospital tank separation, it came right on it's own.

How big is your sand diver? I have also read in other references that a sizable fish can have it's mouth put back into place by pinching the mouth, extending it and then 'reseating it' lol.

Doesn't sound good, poor fish....

Good luck,

Todd

The fella in question is about 25cm long.

He's my largest male and for some reason he ain't the Dom male.

Im gonna give reseting his lip a go this arvo when I go feed them ( since I've moved I have my tank spread over a few locations)
