richierichhsv
Hi, I have a couple of sick fish. Can you tell me what this is and the best way to treat it? The first photo the electric yellow seems to stay in this position most of the time. richierichhsv
Not that ive noticed. The Acei yellow fin has the same problem. I thought it might be gill fluke. Im a bit paranoid. Lol. Edited May 17, 2011 by richierichhsv
tutters187
Usually red at the base of fins can be a parasite or bacterial infection. Try adding salt @ 2-4g/L with your water changes.

richierichhsv
Can anyone tell me if adding aquarium salt to kill the parasites will hurt the black ghost knife fish.
goneself
Yep, BGK hate salt. And a lot of medications, too. You'll have to remove the sick fish and treat seperately.

Yep grams per Litre, but if you have a bgk in there I would use 1-2 g/L. How often do you water change?
richierichhsv
30 to 40% weekly water changes. Whats unusual is no other fish has the problem. Its been a week now and only the electric yellow and acei have it. So its okay with a small dosage of salt with the bgk? liljohn_83
ok rubing and shake is just fish . as for the rednes have you tryed pimafex ,melafex ,,not sure on spelling one helps heal fungal the other is for parasites can be used together imo follow dyrections on bottle
tutters187
Melafix and pimafix don't help with any parasites. Flashing and rubbing on rocks isn't just the fish. A shaking display between 2 males is normal but not rubbing themselves on things, this indicates an irritation around where they're rubbing, if they keep rubbing they can get a secondary bacterial infection.
