Brendan83 Posted May 18, 2011 Report Share Posted May 18, 2011 Hi people, I have had this problem b4 but it went away and now has come back just after some tips to help reduce the build up of algae on my gravel substrate? FreshAndSalty Posted May 18, 2011 Report Share Posted May 18, 2011 I know you said the water parameters are where they should be but what were the actual ppm readings you got on Nitrates and Phosphates? I've have previously had green algae tufts come into tanks courtesy of new pieces of driftwood/anubias. I've had success removing them with a two week dosing regime of Excel Flourish. High light intensity can actually retard algae growth. Light colour can also have an effect. Have a read through this article to see if it "sheds any light" on the problem.
