Felix
Looking at building a display cabinet, and need a collection of tanks... Would like around 16x 200x200x400 (LxWxH) tanks (slightly flexible on dimensions). Since they are so small, and the same dimensions, do you all think it would be easier to buy them, get them built or buy the glass pre cut and put them together myself? I've found one place that sells them for $60 each! I can't afford $960 just for tanks... seems a bit steep. Anyone? Felix
frinkie
ouch hit up aquariums to go - should be much cheaper than $60/tank But I'd deffs go with cutting the glass and making them yourself =] or at least try one, and if it works out great if not then your not to far behind where you started. would be interested in reading about it in a DIY build thread? sugarhit
Ring around places and get quotes? try Aquarium warehouse, aquariums r us they both make their own soo maybe it might be easier for you instead of building your own.

Felix Honestly if i weren't a glazier I would buy all my tanks pre made, the only thing that makes it cheaper for me is the glass comes free. The sizes you are talking about would be a PITA to make, the larger the tank the easier they are to build. For $960 out of brand new glass if they are built well is quite a good price IMO. For the time and work involved I would charge more than that for sure
Felix
That's interesting to hear rex, that price per tank isn't even from somewhere that specialises in tank construction. Might get some prices, I don't mind making them up, kind of thing I would do after work each night, set a few together... We'll see! Anyone else got input?
