benjack4120
I have got a 4 foot tank with African cichlids, the biggest being 10-12 cm the smallest 6-8, do they grow to the size of the tank or do they keep growing with a good diet? benjack4120
no i didnt mean do they grow to the actual size of that tank, i mean that some fish and reptiles only grow a certain size depending what size tank they are in, for example, if a fish lived in a 4 foot tank or a pond, would my 4 foot tank not let the fish grow to their full potential?? DeadFishFloating
What sort of Africans are you trying to grow to 4 foot. Are you selling them that big?
sugarhit
Benjack, since no one seems to get what you're saying. In a way yes it will. It won't completely stunt their growth but it will just make them grow lot slower than normal. If you want them to grow to full potential your better off buying a 5 x 2 x 2, or some sort of 6 footer to let them grow to their full adult size. DeadFishFloating
Which ones get to a full adult size of 6 footer? I am confuse
sugarhit
DFF he was just asking if having Africans in a 4 footer would restrict their growth because the tank wasn't big enough. Not trying to get them to grow to 4 foot. I mean goldfish generally stop growing so that they dont outgrow their surroundings, not the case with africans im afraid. benjack4120
i have noticed that they are growing but i just want them to be able to grow to their full potential, so a bigger tank is what you recommend for faster growth? sugarhit
That and good water quality, great diet. I highly recommend new life spectrum Thera A. Really good, how many do you have currently?
benjack4120
currently have 20 in the tank and have been feeding them new life spectrum from the beginning, the water quality and ph is at the right level. do you think 20 in the tank is too many or can more be put in and it will be enough space for them to live?? sugarhit
Definately upgrade the tank. Perhaps a 6 footer, or a 5 x 2 x 2 should be fine. Costly but worth it.
