BruceTooth
I just got a short finned eel (about 70cm) yestoday, and so far it has rejected feeder gudgeons, flakes, bugs and veges. Any idea what I should feed it? I'm getting kinda worried now.....
Yodapwnsasmurf
if you only got it yesterday, dont stress out, give it a few days to get hungry and then try again, it will easily survive 2 weeks without food so dont worry.

BruceTooth
ok then, i'm not freaking out as much anymore. Also, what temperature would it be comfortable with? the tank is pretty chilly at the moment (it's outside because the eel broke my 6x2x2 with a rock... David!
I have 4x short fins and 2x long fins, all hand feeding off Hikari Massivore but will eat anything including suction cups and thermometers :-( They're scavengers and easily go for more than a month without food, but if you're worried they are nocturnal feeders and love shelled servo prawn. BruceTooth
ok then thanks alot. The 4ft tank is on the patio outside, and i left the screen door open... the eel climbed out of the tank and onto the patio (luckily it was on the ground!) and made it's way inside the house...? it retreated back to the tank and CLIMBED BACK IN when i ran over to it..... now this is getting kinda wierd... i read that when they are mature they look for the ocean to breed and die in the process. It is about 70cm, is it mature now?
Yodapwnsasmurf
LOL. Its not fully grown if thats what your asking, it wont need to migrate to the sea if its in your tank. Keep a tight lid on it and it should be fine........
