BUMPING of Threads

Recommended Posts

I don't know if I'm the only one who noticed, but I'm a bit confused on the "BUMPING" rules. I may have missed it, but is there a definition of what "BUMPING" means. I have seen "pms replied" and "still available", but the latter is caught up to be considered as a bump but the former not, though both were done within 24 hrs.

Also unrelated/comments/discussion on the thread that keeps it on the top of the list, would that be construed as a bump worthy of locking the thread?

I don't mean to question the policing happening, but would someone please clarify the rules as I think it's not applied fairly for all.

the bumping ruels are simple imo ,

48 hour's between bump's

update's are an aception ' ie ,,price drop , sold, on hold

if the mod team belive's your update's are bumping they will be treated as sutch .

if you think someone is cheating the system report it as it is unfair to all member's and disrespectfull of the ruels

hope i help'd

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

To bump a thread on an Internet forum is to post a reply to it purely in order to raise the thread's profile. This will typically return it to the top of the list of active threads. It has been suggested that "bump" is an acronym of "bring up my post",[1] however this is almost certainly a backronym and the usage is entirely consistent with the verb "bump" which means "to knock to a new position".[2] It can also be used in personal messages (PMs) or instant messages (IMs) on the Web, to return an older message to the top of the list.

Lol pm's replied is a bump IMO cause they get notified of the pm so posting that in the thread is nothing but a bump

I agree and from memory that is also included in the trading section rules as a 'bump'.

On the whole members tend to be courteous with the vast majority of post bumping occurring after 48hrs. Those who forget, or choose not to follow the guidelines will have their thread locked or removed. This is the only fair way to ensure all members can have equitable access to our Trader sections.

Despite members generally being very good, we will be enforcing the rules even more strigently in the new year.

Thanks for bringing up this topic.

Regards

Peter

Understand. Need not say anything. Hope it sells quick as new year is getting close.

Just spent 15 mins looking at the first page of the livestock section - I can't see what you are referring to. Please pm me the link/s or report it!!!!!!

Do not complain if you are not prepared to help out. Why are you being so negative ? Is it a personal thing against a particular member or the forum in general or Christmas stress? Give me the links and I'll look into it :D

i think its a "care factor" typa deal, its mod related and i think they are in "holiday mode".........i know i am ;) live and let live

The mods do care and there is no holiday mode. Already today (which is a relatively quiet day) we removed 9 threads from the Trader sections and locked 2-3 others.

Ironically we were criticised today (admittedly in jest) for everything being too orderly and quiet http://www.qldaf.com/forums/off-topic-discussion-8/zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz-59259/ . Interesting.

ps

I think the fact you have 3 mods on here now playing 'hot/cold treasure hunt' for an obscure reference to unfair bumping is testament to how much we care that the right thing is done on our Forum. :D

I'm not complaining, just a bit of an observation. Look into the other for sale thread and it's blatantly shown there. I have nothing against the member. The reason why I started the enquiry as it's been happening since the time the thread started and here comes a few fella's selling there fish and got locked outright for violation of rules, whereas the other one is enjoying immunity. I'm just after fair application of rules.
