Baccus
And lastly (for now) the unknown ones from Cairns. The above photo was when they first arrived and you can see the size in comparrision to a standard cherry shrimp. But then these guys grew. They now dwarf the cherry shrimp but don't attack the cherry's or anything.
Baccus
Sorry missed this earlier, yep just take a long handled net and scoop around any weed and leaf litter in the water, also little bays where bark and small branches can accumilate can reward you with interesting creatures. pistonbroke
Hey Baccus You know I think you could cross breed those creek shrimps (first photo of the dark creek shrimps) with your cherries. They do look very similar in shape.
Baccus
I am still not sure they can cross breed, but I have a small group of each in their own tank so they are getting the oppertunity if the mood takes them. The best thing is because the tank is only small it will be easy to find any oddities if any cross breeding occurs. At least then I will know for certain that creek shrimp (or the ones I have in my area) and cherry shrimp should NOT be put into the same tank. Always good I think to know which shrimp should never be mixed together to prevent accidential cross breeding, especially since shrimp keeping is becoming so popular.
