Angel in Disguise
So, I just went to fill some buckets to do a weekly water changes and the water coming out of the tap is yellowish! Why is it not clear? This happened a couple of weeks ago also! Whats going on with brisbane water? I see it to be pointless to do a water change when the water that I would be putting into my tanks looks dirtier then the water coming out of the tank. Not looking forward to tonights shower....ewwwww:mad: Angel in Disguise
The Tech Den
I guess that is why you should use a good de-chlorinator that does more than just take out chlorine and chlorimines as there will always be more additives from time to time. Angel in Disguise
I use Prime! But it doesn't get rid of the yellowish colour, that why I'm going to put off cleaning until its runs clear! It was clear yesterday, when I did a water change on another tank. I just think it is strange to have water coming out of my taps like someone has gone to the toilet in it!!! Makes me wonder what they have done to the water or what they haven't done to it!!! I wont be drinking it, ewww, and I'm not looking forward to having a shower in it either, so I guess my fish wont like it either, not going to risk it! Might ring the council and find out if there is a reason for it.
tuffy_rana
run it thru some activated carbon. it will clear the colour and most other things. of course purigen is the better option
tuffy_rana
i would run the tap for 15 mins. yes you will waste some water and a lil money but it will flush the lines. maybe all it needs?
Angel in Disguise
I just rang the Qld Urban Utilities fault line and spoke to a guy, he told me to put off cleaning my tank, my water shouldn't be yellowish and a report has been made and someone should ring me back within about 2hours after they do some investigating why its yellow. Angel in Disguise
i'd say its discoloration from the roadworks nearby on yellowbrick road lol LOL, that would explain it, but theres no roadworks around me! It must be that wicked witch from the east (aka, my mum) casting an evil spell on me! Edited January 3, 2012 by Angel in Disguise spelling
Angel in Disguise
I've just hear back from them, there is a new apartments a block away that has been doing plumbing today and they have blocked the mains in my area, They are down there atm cleaning them, and then they are going to flush the water out of my apartments so we will have clean water in the morning. He told me to hold off doing my tanks until the morning. He thanked me for ring them, as they don't know unless someone complains about it and if it happens again just to ring them. Very nice man, explained it all to me, he was great, not many of them around...maybe i should have asked if he was married. blahahahaha!
The Tech Den
I use to think Prime was pretty good too. But did not do much in the way of heavy metals and does not do Fluoride or Lime. Sometimes people get caught up in brand names. The one I use is Superchlor and it is Australian Made and Australian owned and just a bloody good product. You would find it hard to find something better?? You will find a lot of people are converts with good reason. Have a look and see what you think. Superchlor Town & Tank 2L [sctt2l] - $60.00 : G.& K. The Tech Den
PetCity is a sponsor and I am sure that they do it and they were saying that they were going to do delivery. You can also buy it direct from the website too. It goes in flatpacks I believe. Ben at AOA has some of his products but I do not know if he has taken on the Superchlor. dogballs
Hi all i think you find that the water is yellow because of the microbial growth in the water mains being disturbed, just call your local council and they should send someone around to flush the mains. It's not harmful to humans you can still drink it and shower in it, Just becareful washing it may stain your clothes.
