What to look for in an OB peacock??

Recommended Posts

yeh supercob, from what iv seen I like a good dolop of orange too.

I got a few samples this arvo, went a little OB crazy. Let me know what you think.

I liked the look of the peacock cuz he has a nice blue sheen to him, not alot of blotch, which is a bummer.

And the little OB zebra was pretty cool. Might grab a few more a breed them.

Got the big old Trev cuz well he was just cool

That will be a nice cross Ryan!

or does it just come down to personal choice?

basically yes.

One thing I have found is that, my taste in OB is appreciated by some people

and not by others.

For example, the blue OB, or 'blue marble' is popular with many people.

I sold a nice one not long ago at work for $150.

Which is a shame, because it was a popular display fish

BUT the breeder who bought it has produced some incredible fry from it.

As Ryan mentioned, I prefer the red ob (red marble)

it just adds a new layer of colour to the fish.

And there are others who like them as well.

An ob peacock can have a hundred traits,

ya got short body

big kok

blue marble

red marble

golden

red spot

to name just a few.

Back in the day

as in not long ago lol

we could import ob from overseas

not any more

so what we have is what we have to play with.

No matter, thanks to personal taste, everyone has a different looking bloodline.

As always, focus on keeping the fish YOU like.

Oh btw nice blueberry OB zebra! He shall be a stunner. And the marmalade cat trev is a beauty too! Gentle giants those guys.

Thanks for the run down. Thats the cool thing hey, someone sees a trait and they like it or they screw up their face.

Yeh the trev is pretty chilled hey. Not worried by much at all.

Not sure if to grab a few more blueberries for a small colony, or hook the little guy up with some red zebs ( if thats even possible).... would love to see some more orange in there.

These guys are only together in a quarantine for a short time.

Will split them up for breeding if/when I get other breeders - otherswise they'll go in my display.

So im guessing Zebs have a bit of a reputation come breeding time.

Just got my saulosi breeding regularly for which they are pretty gentle. One step at a time I suppose.
