rayray2281 Posted January 14, 2012 Report Share Posted January 14, 2012 I recently bred some shortfin bn that were bred from longfins, So does that mean the shortfin have longfin gene, from my experiment, I bred the shortfin and they had no longfin fry, so does this mean that shortfin do not carry the longfin gene, and longfin do carry the shortfin gene Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

little l Posted January 15, 2012 Report Share Posted January 15, 2012 albino shortfins , that throw commons , commons that throw albino , longfins throwing shortfins , and all fish were bought here advertised as breeding true , it depends how much the gene pool in the fish have been inbred to , ah and marbles that throw everything , but the commons that come from the marbles are not even close to a common , lighter in colour , and my garden gets them all , too many people dont understand genetics nor have bothered to read into it , yet try to develop new strains which mainly results in weaker fish , deformaties and people paying over the top prices for inferior fish discus are a prime example , scolloped heads , pointy heads , top and bottom fins dont match where they start and finish , not obvious to a novice , not enough culling on breeders behalfs its all about the money , the money Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
