discus_noob
Hi guys, I have a container of Sera Flora (big 50 dollar one) and I was feeding my tangs at 4.30am two days ago and forgot to put the lid on it as I was still half asleep. There appears to be moisture in the flakes now and seems a little wet so does that mean food is now cactus? Will the food be okay? Any tips for drying it out? Dumb lesson to learn but I should of been more alert Thanks, Adam
Supercobwe
Some dry them out in the oven with the low temperature maybe try 60 degree.
gingerbeer
Why are you feeding Sera Flora. I didn't think you had tropheous, and once you get past that most of you tanks like a higher protien diet. I feed NLS and give Brineshrimp regularly. I also love tetra bits to get those real pops of colours from tangs. But flora is too green for them.
discus_noob
I feed Sera Flora, Baby Brine Shrimp, NLS Thera A, Ocean Nutrition Cichlid Vegie Flakes with spirulina. I try to mix it up with my fish but mostly feed them NLS and Baby brine. I only feed them that on an off day WITH NLS in the same feed. More wondering about what to do with my food or if I just bin it than what I feed my fish as their colour and diet is fine at the moment as they mostly are fed brine and NLS. Anyone please help? How do I dry it out? Once it is dried out is it now stale and useless? Will this cause issues to my fish in the long run by not throwing it out? Supercobwe
I use the coffee jar to store all my fish food including all my dried food. (the one that have the sealed lid)
efc
yeah i would bin it. Have heard of numerous fish kills from mouldy food. Also sera flora is by far the best staple diet for all tangs.
gingerbeer
You confused me with the diet, got ya now. Personally I would throw it given it has been a couple of days - not worth the risk.
The Tech Den
JUst be careful as it would be very likely to go moldy.
grubby
Put a desiccant sachet in with the food it will dry it out. I keep one of these in my tub of Sera flora always , works a treat. Don't heat it in an oven you will destroy all the nutritional value.
gollys
With larger containers of fish food I re-cant it. I put it into small containers (such as those small plastic air tight containers you get from the cheaper shops) so that way if I drop it on the floor, knock it over or whatever - it is only a small portion of food wasted, not the whole big container. I find too that it keeps fresher as you are not opening and closing the larger container all the time, but only opening the big container to top up the little containers you have. I am also careful to dry my hands when I feed the fish so as not to put wet fingers in the food.

BY doing that it will not do any harm to the food as I understand the balls are made of something?
