The Monty
As some of you know, I have had an issue with my 4ft tank, so at the moment it has fresh water in it, and is being cycled again. I have Riverstones made into caves, and some driftwood and Wisteria and Elodia up the other end. I have a path made of stones running from caves to the "forest". I am wanting to add "grass" on the outside of the path, to look like, well, grass, lol. Substrate is sand, and it cant be to expensive, and I need enough to cover about 2 square feet. Receives 8-10 hours of light per day (artificial). It also needs to be relatively low maintenance (unlike the wisteria that needs to be trimmed weekly, lol) Anyone have any ideas? sarah1234
Unless your going with Co2 I would say hairgrass, I think it'd be a pain to use hc or ug etc.

The Monty
Just trim it low on the weekly W/C?
discus_noob
Japanese hairgrass stays low. Or eleocharis Belem is even shorter. Just use that and you will be fine. If it does get leggy then just trim it to the height you require (as close to the substrate if you like). It grows like a weed and is easy to look after. The Monty
Silly question maybe, but how do you vacuum the substrate with a layer of grass?
sarah1234
You don't. The plant will generally consume the waste as nutrients.
