Pet City Visit

Recommended Posts

Bristlenosejohn, Goonibird and myself had the great pleasure of visiting Pet City today for a leisurely Sunday afternoon get together.

We were confronted with cars and customers everywhere which is a sign of just how popular this place is.

Unfortunately we were unable to catch up with Donny (deadfishfloating) and Kelly but certainly will in the near future no doubt.

(Johno was very impressed with all the plants he bought too!)

Regards

Peter :D

It was mayhem today wasn't it.

Went in to get some fishy food but they didn't have what i was after.

It was like ants on a bone in the fish section thats for sure.

Checked out the reptiles for the young fella.

Now he wants a desert scorpion or bird eating spider or snake or lizard. So he tells me.

=)

Scorpions are great for children, cheap and low maitinance. The best species for a child is the black rock, Urodacus manicatus, as they are placid and rather active. The dessert scorpion, U. yaschenkoi, is aggressive and needs a particular set up and they hide most of the time in their burrow. I say get him a scorpion! :P

I haven't been in a few years, absolutely love the place though! When I have my mantis cube cycled I will be popping down for some corals and a bit of a sticky beak :)

whats the deal with the seriously reduced african tanks donn master??

Its just the market mate.

We make more from goldfish than we do from Africans, so the Africans lost their big system.

The problem is unfortunately the backyard breeders.

And yes, I am a backyard breeder.

Anyway its dam hard to compete with them, and most shops that try to...... go out of biznis.

We had some epic sales to reduce stock levels before the move, so yes tanks are still recovering.

But we will always have the bread and butter stuff AND the fancy pants rare stuff.

But ya

if a fish type doesnt pay its way

it gets slimmed down.

Ya know I will always be promoting the africans

love them

but......... we gotta follow market trends

That said

for those that dont know

we deal with basically every supplier in Australia

what we dont have on hand

we can get.

Come in

put down a deposit

and we can make it happen.

Just would like to add to this one

For those who dont recognise me YES I do use a walker (like a old man ..But I make it look cool).. It was great to finaly go in and check out what they had in stock and I was impressed.

I ended up leaving with a huge buch of Anubias, 2 lots of Hair grass matting and I was lucky to aquire a snippet of Christmas moss.

I would like to thank the great staff that I interacted with and it was a shame not to have more time to discuss fish..(dam rude customers keeping them busy..LOL).

Thanks again

Cheers

Johno

Ps I was very close to buying up the torpeedo's ... very nice.

Think mum would prefer a scorpion too....imagine the havoc if mr spider was to get out......actually probably something with less than 8 legs, a fish would be best lols

Thank you for the kind words! I'm not usually in on the weekend unless I was store managing and it was one of the first weekends I had a day off since the kiddies went back to school and the customer swells have ceased a bit. For the first time in ages DFF had some annual leave!

The staff told me "Omg! The president of QLDAF was in on the weekend!" - but by all reports - you were the one that was kind and lovely :)

And yes, those Torps are stunning. By far some of the best that you will find anywhere. Hope to see you up again soon!

came in today to find out some prices for some wild betta's the young man who helped me was real lovely.

You know people can say a lot about Pet City - good or bad, we all are entitled to our own opinions. However I truly believe across the board that I have some great staff. They are truly earnest and really love fish - and really want to help our customers love their tanks. Your words are truly appreciated and I will tell the staff! Thank you

As for the other two........

We were merely there as a body guard presence - similar to the guys who recently looked after our Prime Minister.

Any sign of trouble and bristlenosejohn would have been whisked away. :D
