Daharkazangel
What fish food brand do you mostly use and why? I generally use hikari but want opinions on other brands :-)
gollys
I use New Life Spectrum & Omega - also Hikari. I feel these are the best quality brands with good ingredients, not just fillers.

thommo2020
Hikari?? I know the fish love it, but have you ever read the ingredients?? Aquarium owner pointed it out to me, Bakery products!! Whats that mean. Read the back of the packet, see for yourself.
gingerbeer
I use NLS as my basic diet and add other foods to fill it out. I use frozen Brine Shrimp for my tangs. Would suggest that for angels too, or black worms/tubifex sparingly. I am not a blood worm fan. Mosquito larvae are fantastic food. For oscars, I would actually love to have cockroaches (the real ones), or get a meal worm culture going, or just a good old can of worms (to capture garden worms for them). Matmatmat
Variety is the spice of life! I feed a mix of hikari, sera, nls, ocean nutrition and some others. But to Answer I think it's a tie for me between nls and hikari bio gold , nls is great because of quality of ingredients , bio gold is good for digestion I have no real evidence to support this , lol but heard a year or two ago that it has something that aids in positive gut bacteria and since adding it to the lineup have never had a fish with any digestive problems . Supercobwe
Number 1 have to be New Life Spectrum. 2nd: Hikari, I use both of them but NLS is the main diet.

You can't be serious do you? although I havenn't try the one you said but everyone agree with NLS is the best, brand, popularity and reputation is with NLS. Shanoz
NLS for my African and also Ocean Nutrition Vege Pellets for them too being that I have some Troph's in there. Hikari for my big Am's. NLS for my natives and Ocean Nutrition Brine Shrimp flakes for my tropicals.
DVS969
I have always used a variety Hikari pellets, Not as a staple diet though but imo you should give a variety of food for best health anyway. My fish have always been fast growing, good looking and healthy fish. Never used NLS so can't comment on it.
tuffy_rana
You can't be serious do you? although I havenn't try the one you said but everyone agree with NLS is the best, brand, popularity and reputation is with NLS. i use nls when its on special but dont rate it that highly really. well by that i mean my fish dont really rate it, except for the thera A. they seem to take that willingly. maybe i just have finicky fish but they smash hikari (even if it does have corn, wheat and bakers yeast in it........as do most pellet fish foods) especially food sticks, sinking carnivore/massivore etc. bio gold and excel get taken eagerly and im not ashamed to admit they eat the native pellets that the stores sell aswell. i am less about designer clothes, brand names and bells and whistles and if im not a pretentious twerp.......i dont think it would be right to allow my fish to be
Braddo
hikari and sera by far. I am also looking forward to new era to be released here in oz. All 3 of these are used in their own fish hatcheries. Unlike other brand. Also hikari and sera have been tested for output waste from fish and were shown to be the cleanest. New era hasnt been tested and the other well lets just say it failed badly. So for cleaner water and great results only hikari and sera for me. And cant wait to run new era through its paces but from all accounts in europe it is proving to be excellent.
Sephiroth
I use Hikari (Massivore,Carnivore,Shrimp) & NLS (Grow). NLS for the trops and the rest for larger fish n shrimp, +1 for Hikari for me. What does everyone think about the NLE packaging? See through containers....light penetrates the food and can diminish the nutritional Value. Seph
Lennox
Hikari's gotta be my favourite for most freshwater. good growth, highly attractive to fish good colour. ocean nutrition for my reef same reasons (and low phosphate). Hikari's first bites are awesome for rearing tiny, tiny fry
DeadFishFloating
love my NLS as far as ridleys aquaculture food goes...... its cheap which is good when all you are worried about is food to flesh conversion rates. but ya if I had a free life time supply of any food it would be the 1mm NLS cichlid pellet. only bad thing about it, is that its so good that fish arent so keen on anything else.
