Daharkazangel
How often do you guys syphon your tanks? I do mine weekly when I do a water change. A mate of mine never does, I asked why and he said cause he's got plants, he doesn't like to disturb the roots. So he does <MASSIVE eighty ninety percent water changes but no syphon??? Totally opposite to me and I also have loads of plants. I syphon every time and do about twenty five to forty percent water change. So whos right and what do you guys do? Cheers. tuffy_rana
DSB do act as a nitrate/phosphate reactor for sure but is not practical most most hobbyists. it definately has its advantages in the salt water aquarium i gravel vac once a month and only do a third. alot of bacteria lives in the detritous and is benificial to have around. sure it creates nitrate and phosphates but they are removed with bi weekly wc's
