Cleaning second hand tanks

Recommended Posts

I have just bought 30 second hand tanks and everyone tells me to clean them up with 0000 steel wool and vinger.

After they are clean what do I use to neutralise the vinger or do they just get washed with salty water or just water?

Salty water will clean away any residue...wash thoroughly with a hose and job right :)

There is a glass cleaner called Halo which claims to be Aquarium safe, i have used it with no ill effects

Vinegar is basically just Acetic acid and is water soluble can be neutralized with sodium bi-carbonate - for cleaning calcium residue off glass it needs to be an industrial cleaning vinegar not the food kind as the food kind is too dilute to dissolve the calcium - if allowed to dry on the glass industrial vinegar WILL etch the glass permanently !
