mq_camo
I have some nice black hawaiian substrate that is live (bacteria), it's really nice substrate and Im going back to fresh water fish keeping due to lack of time, I'm setting up a new aquarium for a mangrove jack and wondering if there would be any problems with using this substrate, I will give it a good wash out first,
DeadFishFloating
should be fine and look amazing feed a bit lighter as there will be some die off of the bacteria. You can wash it, and then soak it in a bucket for a few days to get most of the ammonia out of it. Most effective when ya water change it daily. Its slow, but you can test the water and be sure that the die off has ended, if you have an ammonia test kit. I have used this method with great success, to move my coral sand back and forth between marine and african cichlid setups.
