TaBeck1990
Hi all. I'm doing a coffee table aquarium and I've got three ideas for filters and as I'm not an expert was wondering what the general opinion was. The take will be stocked with Africans, peacocks, humpheads, blue dolphins and electric yellows. It will have calcium gravel and lava rocks. The three filter ideas are: the table top will be glass and very see throuugh Canister filter hidden in a box attached to the end of the table so it looks like it is apart of the table. This canister would need to be alot thinner then the general so I would probably have to make it or a sump like thing. An internal filter concealed to look like it is apart of the leg A humburg Matt filter and an UGF I have drawn up drafts to post but the are in PDF format and I havnt figured out how to upload them but the finished tank will be similar to this:
Kerks Fish
if it were me i probably would go with similar to option 1. i would make bulk heads on either end and have two sumps in either end.. which brings up the other thing; it looks good in theory but have you thought about power management? i always imagined the filter and lights had to have power thus havign a lead running to a ..coffee table .. where lots of people can trip over. just make the table top a solar panel
bristlenosejohn
Great table idea , I have personaly seen one of the best ways to hide a filter for tables is by making all the legs a tad bigger and hidden within the legs are heaters, two filters and a extra spongy and by doing it this way everything is hidden and looks a million dollers. frinkie
I'm also far from an expert, but I'd just put a sump at one end and make it an extension of the table, cables shouldn't be an issue if its aganist a wall or just put a nice rug between the table and the wall where the cables go. hit me up if you need a hand making stuff, i'm pretty good at pretending to know what i'm doing
