siverdollar
hi I have been given a beautiful 6x2x1 tank and an internal filter for it(unsure of size of filter but plan on getting new one as was used with dam water) it also has 2 lights witch extend the whole length of the tank. I am wanting to put my current fish in it witch are 5 silver dollars 1 baby Oscar 2 adult BN and a lot of fry (if they survive the Silver dollars) Unsure if I should add my 9 tetras. As they seem to be tail biters. I was wanting to know what the filtration requirements would be and anything else I might need as I only have a 30g tank and don't know what these fish would like as decorations or that they may require in a bigger tank? thank you
pk333
Well the baby Oscar will eat the tetras as soon as he can fit them in his mouth. Silver dollars are by and large omnivores/vegetarians so they may not be threat to your baby bn. However, and this is my on opinion, while the tank is a good length and width, it's low height will mean it's unsuitable for an adult Oscar or Silver dollars. siverdollar
hi the silver dollars are about 4-5 inches and the oscar is at the moment 1-1.5inches, this tank is a stepping stone till I can aford to get my much loved 7x3x3fter fixed. my silver dollars have eaten in total about 18 tetra's I actualy cought them rounding one up and then attacking it and they sit there picking the baby BN's of the side of the tank for weeks after they hatch. we've had about 5 or 6 lots of fry. I don't think it's fair that they should have to stay in a 3ft for much longer. what hight would be needed for these fish?
