shon982
my pond plants seem to be dying off for some reason, but yeah I've had tropheus, goldfish, rosy barbs and guppies in my pond without heaters and filters for quite a few months now I took out the guppies, and will slowly take out the rest of the fish because I want to get some bigger fish
blade87
what about threw winter ?
goldenswimmers
depends what fish your going to keep blade...I've heard if you have cichlids its not going to be easy as the temps can drop down on a winters night....apparently a thick plastic sheet keeps the temps up a few extra degrees over night....something you could look into... blade87
ok sweet but the bigger the body of water the easier it should hold its temp right?
trk18
Yeah more water holds the temp longer , was told to turn air off every day around chill time ( late Arvo) then back on during the day. With a Hot house I'm hoping not to have to cover the ponds up during winter but wait & see when it's all done I guess.

nativecollector
We have a 6m x 2m pond with ellioti, goldies, platys, purple spot and empire gudgeons, mollies, swordtails, rainbows, cherry shrimp, glass shrimp, yabbies and freshwater prawns - no filtration or heating, works well filled with floating plants and plants in pots. Also have striped marsh (?) frogs and some other small green frog pair which are breeding.
