Hey guys,

probably a stupid question, but i got two nice little peps today, as brought them home and was releasing them into the tank, i notices one had i kink in the base of his tail, would this be a birth defect or something else, and what should i do ?

If they are only little ones it could be a lack of calcium in the breeders tank which can happen when ph levels are kept so low.

If transferred to a tank of say ph 7.2 to 7.3 with a bit of calcium carb gravel you will see the kink straighten as the bn continues to grow.

The same sort of thing can happen to guppies in low discus sorts of ph. They have a crooked spine.

Buddy it could be anything - it could be from a accident, it could be a birth defect, it could be a lack of calcium, it could be water conditions, it could be Fish TB.

The thing is you do not want it. Return it so it gets replaced - you do not really want to deal with straightening the spine or any issue for that reason.
