2littlerevheads Posted May 8, 2012 Report Share Posted May 8, 2012 i have this brown dust like stuff everywhere in my 3ft tank in the bedroom. just wondering if there is anyway of getting reed of it? and is it harmful for the fish? i just did a half water change and u can see the tank still has it in there as the tank is cloudy. please help Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

samo Posted May 9, 2012 Report Share Posted May 9, 2012 have you got any drift wood, leaves or plant matter in the water? Drift wood if it's new and wasn't rinsed and prepared will leak tannins into the water which turn it a 'tea' colour. Leaves such as Indian Almond leaves will do the same, especially as they break down. A great way to clear the water up is a bag or two of Purigen in your filter. Costs about $25 from your LFS.
