Deeg
Hi everyone I have never been interested in hybrids and have never kept one. However I often just scan the hybrid sections and have noticed some awesome display flowernhorns in the mix and it has definitely intrigued me. so my question is, can flowerhorns be kept with other tankmates. The tank I was thinking of putting one in is an 8 x 2.5 x 2.5 with a huge filtration system. The tank inhabitants are a Pink GG about 45cm, a Pbass 27cm, an oscar 35cm, a polleni about 25cm, 3 clown loaches all over 20cm and a sailfin pleco 40cm. What are your opinions Cheers Deeg
Yodapwnsasmurf
I wouldn't personally put a FH in there, but if you found the right one, you could get away with it. Something like a BP would be fine in there though.
blade87
If you take the gg and osca out could work could work with them in there i have kept fh with africans no drama depends on the fish and space the red dragon im selling goes well with others :-)
Jester
ive kept about 6 flowerhorn sizes 5cm-8cm, with a 20+ cm jack dempsey and 6 red texas and they all got along, just depends how large and stocked ur tank is. Although probably not recommended it really does come down to the aggression level of the actual fish itself.

radley86
couple i got are the biggest 2 fish in my tank 7x2.5x2... they only really fight each other for tank dominance at times.. next biggest fish are polleni n white saum n horse face... don't really hassle any other ones, which is mix of smaller americans and few africans too... when i had other similar sized fish like a red devil, black belt, coal grunter... they would hold their own against em.. they are fat fish though love to eat... especially any fish slight chance could fit in their mouths Edited May 9, 2012 by radley86

scott95
things is it will either be the aplha, or it will be the runt. no inbetween, it will not have great colour if not most dominant
Matmatmat
I have bought flowerhorns off people that had them in tanks with other fish no probs.. They were happy healthy big koks, full color ect.. No torn fins.. Haven't had much succes myself though:( we do have some smaller ones in a community tank and it seems to be going well so far (fingers crossed) although we went this time with the rule of getting all the fish small and growing them all up together with lots of hiding places in a busy scaped tank. I think the best you can do is put them together and have a net handy incase it turns sour..HTH
Jester
I had a total of about 11 fish sizes 5-20+cm in my 360L tank (100x60x60) no aggression except between large male red tex and JD, (only cause the jd kept going near the rt and fh pair) no hiding spots either. All the others were fine.

I wouldn't put anything with FH because you don't really know when they will go nuts, he/she might be ok for a long time but all it take it one mad moment from them then others fish will be floating on top unless a much tougher fish than them will able to survive. Jester
I think it really comes down to it being the dominant fish
