litigator666
How long does it take for a driftwood to stay submerged on the water. Any tips on making it quicker. The driftwood I have is totally dried up and had soak in water last week, but still it floats.
tutters187
About a week, try wedging it under something like a rock. I'd soak it in a bucket/bath tub first before putting it into tank

olly
your ded right jimbozed how long is a bit of string??? i have also had bits float for a very long time. so i usually just put a few decent sized rocks around the bit of wood so it still looks good until it dose stay down by its self olly
litigator666
thank you guys, it's staying on my hospital tank for now, until it sinks. did put some wedge to hold it under water. i just got a few plants attached to it so I think I'll need to wait for a few weeks for those to establish roots. my tank will be bare for a few weeks i guess. shazvana
I had a piece that I attached some string and a brick to and it finally stayed submerged after a few months....it was only 1ft long too, so not a big bit at all. I had to take it out of the water for about an hour a month ago and now it won't sink again. It's been floating around the surface of one of my tanks for about 4 weeks now and I'm over it:)
cameron
it took about 1 day for mine its about 30-40cm long i just used a rock to weigh it down.
litigator666
I may be in trouble as the wood is about a meter x 2ft x 1ft (lwh) in dimension. Will see how I go.
mad-n-angry
its all about the density of the wood if its not very dense its more porous and will soak the water faster very dense it can take months
litigator666
after months of waiting, it still floats. Decided to just throw it on the tank as a floating ornament. Saves me the space below for my rays and the floating wood seems to be a perfect hiding/hunting place for my bichir and synos. Fish Junkie
I've had a piece in a tank for at least 8 months I've also had other bits sink after 6 It's a waiting or weighting game I've got a couple at the moment that have sunk with rocks and cable ties FJ
sjn5188
I've still got a piece that hasn't sunk for atleast six months, but i'm not complaining as my cherry shrimp love to hang out underneath it as it floats around the tank.
