Barefootexplorer
Hi Guy's, this is my new "T" set-up! It's a 6 x 3 x 2 12mm glass Right-hand rear weir 4 x 18 x 20 sump 1 x Ehiem 4800lph 1 x Aqua one 3600lph 1 x 300w jaeger Ph = 8.4 Gh - 14 kh - 16 Temp - 23*c This has been my Frontosa tank housing my 10 Ikola's . The plan was to turn my 8 footer into a dedicated "T" tank but once I started scaping it out with rocks I soon realized it was not going to give me the result I desired. The 2 foot wide base of the 8 x 2 just wasn't wide enough for me to get a good "rock - pile" set up without it taking over the tank. I spent quite a few hours changing it all around but to no avail, it still looked oddly artificial and I eventually gave up. The next day I started looking for a 3d latex background but the cost of a new one to fit an 8 x 2.5 was obscene! I did however come across a cheap 2nd hand one off Hamza in brissy that would fit the 6 x 3 nicely so, on the "spur of the moment" the decision was made to swap my tanks around. I cut the background down to fit along the back wall allowing for the rear weir overflow. I used some square edge shaped rocks to build the base into the 2 corners of the tank and stacked them up to try and hide the weir. Not quite finished, need a few more rocks to complete it but it is starting to resemble what I had in mind when I first decided to do a "T" tank. BigRock
Awesome stuff!!! love the rockwork,.....only thing i cant stand with most big tank set ups(including my loungeroom display), is that 99% of em are all way too low to look as impressive as they should, e.g. 2-3ft high stands, not good enough and too common, they just dont wow you like they do when they are right up high and in your face ,and not half as cool or enjoyable when you have to bend over or crouch to view them i reckon,...I have some footage of my 6x2x2 filled with 30 dubs and 11 illangi placed on 4ft 6inch high stand and it just looked mad up there like that, even for an average tank like a 6x2 it was just awesome to see,...having large water volume tanks is a nice thing, but having large water volume tanks up high is just super nice and somehow more impressive, to me anyway ,..again though, awesome set up fella Edited May 17, 2012 by BigRock
BigRock
love tanks up high so much that after i sell out the fishroom im using some massive thick stumps I have to make a few stands 5ft high to hold my 8x2's and a few 6x2's that i will keep just to enjoy as in-house tanks, but up high lol ; when you have to look down at something, naturally, its magesty doesnt truly exist or shine is what i guess im saying here, but when we look up we behold. esp when its a 6x3x2 full of tropheus right up in ya face Edited May 17, 2012 by BigRock
CichlidBreeder
^^ 2nd that.. my 6ft is on a low stand and so tried of bending down to look at it, on the up side though it is easier to clean as I don't need to stand on a ladder .
