brockssracer
So I am trying to find out what water conditions people keep their 202s in before and during breeding. I have mine in neutral water at about 26deg. should I lower the ph?
DVS969
Mine breed in 7-7.4 @ 27-28 degrees. I don't change anything.

brockssracer
Hey Brengun, I noticed a couple nice big write ups that you did a few years ago on breeding these guys. In those you said about keeping the water from 6-6.8 I think it was. Is that something you would still recommend or would having it a little higher be better? Brengun
They just seem to breed in whatever water when they are ready. My pH is usually fairly low as I use all rainwater and have to add back their minerals but I don't think low pH is an actual requirement for L202. They are more likely to spawn when rain is coming for some reason. Somehow they seem to know. Mine fiddled about for a long time changing caves and every few months I rearranged the caves and dw until they were happy with it and bred. Hatching eggs and raising fry the L202 was one of the easiest so thats a good thing. Try setting the temp up on 28C and waterchange with 24 to 26C just to wake em up a bit. Feeding a little bit meatier foods will mature the females eggs for spawning. If you have a canister, give it a clean out (especially the tubes) to increase the flow as that can often excite them as well.
