benjamin
Hey Guys. I'm Just after some advice or recommendations on internal filters. I've only ever dealt with canister filters and sumps and don't want to get the wrong filters. I'm planning on buying 3 internal filters for my 3 4'x15''x18'' with an additional 3 sponge filters in each tank. The tanks will be home to breeding Longfin Bristlenose, peppermint bristlenose and in the future maybe a few discus. Cheers guys.
Qwerty
Have you looked into hang on back filters, they are great and ease of maintenance.
Keegan013
^^ As above, Canisters for each tank would be good as well, But if not then HOB filters are alot easier to maintain and they are also alot more power cost friendly. Are they on a tiered stand?
ScottRock
I have a small internal Eheim filter that is great. I bought it for a 30cm cube tank and it works fine. When the canister filter on my 300 litre discus aquarium broke a few hours before I went on holidays I put the tiny Eheim internal filter into the aquarium in the hope that'll help while I was away. I returned a week later and found all the fish still alive and happy. I was so impressed, I bought an internal Otto filter to stay in the tank on a regular basis. This thing is powerful! It'll pick up all the waste in the aquarium easy enough and I can also use it to make a bubble current for even more oxygen, which I don't do because I'm not a bubble fan. It can be noisy at times too, but then again, I'm always saying my filters are noisy. I noticed Age of Aquariums have one that has a spray bar attached if that's the way you want to filtrate. kasman
You cant go past this for an internal. Best designed internal I have seen. You will not see anything like it - Aquatopia 400, rated @ 500lph. You can fill one compartment with matrix. And the side with the sponge actually filters it evenly through the vertical side. I really like them. You can get them from Redlands Pet Centre for under $30. Had mine running for maybe a few months and very happy with it. benjamin
would the otto beat a aqua one 104f or a eheim pickup 2012. i saw this and wanted it automatically. but do they work?
kasman
In my opinion all internal filters will only give u watermovement or thats all u should rely on them to do. Besides the aquatopia they will all be similar in filter performance. Thats just due their limited design. Lph isnt eveything.
