ScottRock
Hi guys, I'm planning on building my first house this year and I was thinking about having a fish tank built into the wall. It would be the type of tank people can see from one room into the next. Has anyone built one of these or had experience with them? I'm doing up a pros and cons list to work out whether I should actually build it or not so any help is much appreciated.
Syndicate
First you'll have to build a thick enough wall/cavity. It's alot easier to just one viewing window and that tank going into the room behind it, a friend off mine has a 6 meter long tank built into a wall in his lounge room, but it's a concrete tank built while the house was getting built. It's the most impressive tank I've seen in person looks huge being 4 foot deep

I've definately not owned one I think it would look great:) the only negative I've heard about them is that being behind the tank makes it hard to see what your doing when trimming plants and scaping... dave
Did this with a 8x2x2 when we built 5 years ago. Access from the garage behind with floor to ceiling sliding doors. Can be painful when catching fish but maintenence is a breeze as we built a drain pipe and water supply to the tank. Good fun just remember not to set the tank too low otherwise the only good view is when seated. Mine is about 4 foot to the bottom of the tank. Cheers Dave
