tanah4128
Hi, looking getting some coarse river sand. Say 6 bags @ 20kg. Coarser the better, so doesn't get blown around too much. Can anyone point me in the right direction for some decent priced ones? Thanks in advance. paul
Otto
Landscapers yard. $4 per 20ltr bucket. Just needs to be well rinsed or use the coke bottle method to clean as you add.
kasman
I have just used some pool filter sand and bunning "coarse sand" on a tank. The pool filter sand is a uniform grade, where as the bunnings ranges from very small even silt to stones 2/3mm dia and everything in between. Personally I think you get a more natural look with the bunnings stuff. Cheaper too @ about $8 for 20kg where as the pool sand is $20 for $20. But as usual you gotta wash both alot. Even the pool stuff took 20-30 washes. But as Otto said above, if a landscaper has the coarse stuff you are after that is the way to go. Usually much quicker to clean as rain etc has washed the silt to the bottom so just scoop off the top Edited July 29, 2012 by kasman
tanah4128
Thanks guys, was just thinking back when I washed 4 bags of Bunnings sand a while ago.... Bit of effort:) Just found some nice gravel at 2-5mm from landscaping yard for $84.90 for a tonne:) But if anyone knows where to get coarse sand that's not too difficult to clean, much appreciated:)
kasman
Just found some nice gravel at 2-5mm from landscaping yard for $84.90 for a tonne:) that should do ya lol I think I paid about $25 for 40kg bags of 2mm/4mm nabmucca gravel from my local yard. But yeh, I havnt actually seen coarse sand there but they must stock it, as the coarser stuff would be used alot for construction.
