CQD
hi guys just a quicky im setting up a twin 6x2x2 rack and was wondering if a 6x1x1 sump would be big enough? im not worried if it overflows more that that the pump 9k p/h will push too much water out before it drains from the tanks. tanks are drilled with 2 4mm bulkheads Thanks in advanced

Fish Junkie
I figured you ment 40mm still not enough IMO FJ
matt_a
Two 40mm bulkheads should be more than enough, as will be the sump depending on how you choose to set it up.
CQD
this is the basic plan for the sump
matt_a
So essentially the sump is 800x360x330mm = 95 litres. This is only a guess, but the water level in the main tanks may rise as much as 4cm before it reaches the level it will maintain. 1800x600x40mm = 43 litres. Multiply that by 2, and don't forget the volume of the drain and return pipes.... it will be cutting it a bit close. If the flow only causes a rise of more like 3cm in the main tanks, then all of a sudden you are looking a bit safer. I tend to overestimate the rise to give me more of a margin for error. Its all still guess work unless you want to assemble the tanks, give them a test run and then work with some more accurate measurements.
Fish Junkie
Just fill the tank run the pump and be prepared to drill another hole Simple FJ
