The Tech Den
Way over in price and would expect pairs to be half that price - they must be breeding pairs for that kind of dosh. You would want to be able to sex them yourself otherwise you are likely to get a girl that ends up a boy - a very common occurrence and as always - buyer beware. tubbi
Lealea (a very respectable breeder) has today posted her colony of 10 Zeb breeders for sale on pp, here's the link: For Sale L046 COLONY - plecoplanet Forums She's is looking at offers so your mate might get lucky and pick them up for a good price :-)
cram
depends on how much you want them! like tech den mentioned - $6k for proven breeding pair is about right. otherwise for smallish adults you could expect $1k-$1.5k for each fish. juvies ~ $600-$750 sub-adults ~ $900-$1k ish so unproven but sexed pair maybe $2K-$3k or so depending on size. DeadFishFloating
its a sellers market you pay what you think they are worth but the few people that have them are hoarders and in no hurry to sell espec pairs as that = competition and that = lower prices at a higher price people sell at a higher price to make back their investment. Brengun
Its a lot of money in any ones eyes and most of us dont have it laying about as cash all set to buy. As with other high priced fish, be careful who you deal with and know how to sex them yourself or you might be buying all males. Zebs can be difficult to buy over the internet or phone. Even if they send you photos, how do you know those are the fish you are buying. What I mean is they are ALL black and white stripes. No individual spots, face patterns, scribbles. Nothing but stripes all running the same way lol.
clipper
Hard to believe these are only worth 15 pounds each in the U.K but huge dollars here. Definitely a sellers market. Good luck with your purchase.
lachie1998
if you going to fork out a few grand for some why not get a plane ticket to go see them in real life? lol sounds like a good idea
The Tech Den
Be a bit hard when they are building a big Hydro Electric Plant where they will become extinct very shortly and already started on it. Soon a fish tank will be the only place you will see them....

DeadFishFloating
Ah yes, but my peacocks are a bit of fun. my version of fancy guppies! The L46 tho.... that is natural perfection. Still i apreciate the compliment If you ever had a free tank and wanted to raise up a random mouthful or 2 You are more than welcome to some. I tend to breed far more than I am willing to raise. oh to have a similar dilema with something like zebs!
