Best way to attach moss?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has any secrets on this?

I attached java moss to driftwood last time using fishing line (and heaps of knots...)

But it sucked... Took me ages and couldn't keep it tight enough.

So I just bought some really nice Christmas Moss and I don't want to stuff this one.

Any suggestions :)

Thanks

Don't laugh at the super glue suggestion. Many people on Planted Tank forums use certain super glues to attach plants to driftwood or rocks. But there is a certain way to do it, i.e preparation etc.

Also, some stores that specialise in planted tanks sell a special thread, it's softer, but stronger than cotton. Can't remember what it's called, and it's pretty cheap at around $2 a spool.

super glue or cotton thread or if it is even used on rocks with cracks, you can cram it into the cracks and it will stick to them, or the new one with fissidens is grinding it up and spraying it on with water and then doing a dry start method (you probably have an existing tank so not a good idea).

Im lazy and use black zip ties and cut off once attached

That's how I do it with Anubias and Java Fern.

I'm not that big on planted tanks, but is Christmas Moss a plant that needs high light and CO2 to grow properly? That's the main thing why I haven't tried Christmas Moss or Flame Moss in my tanks.

Nah I think it's similar to java with care and growth. Just took me a while to get my hands on some...

Obviously it would flourish with co2 etc.. But it will grow just about anywhere.

The guy sent it to me in an envelope wrapped in glad wrap and its fine. Haha.
