Matmatmat
What's the process that a company or individual has to go through to get a particular food to be importable? I have heard costs of like 50k .. Is it really that much and how does it work? Does said company supply a sample and ingredient list and aquis check it out ? There is a particular food product I want and I know it's outta my reach.. But now I'm just interested in the process Help me give up on a dream;)
goldenswimmers
Yeah Im feeling ya pain mat...couple of years ago I looked into bringing in some super hikari but even though pet stores can bring in hikari...this type of hikari has added ingredients that would require further testing and further licencing...requiring further large amounts of cash..which seems to be the main ingredient...large amounts of cash...so Im not 100% sure but think you have to pay for a licence/permission to import pet food...and Im pretty sure this is an annual fee and covers certain previously approved supplies from an exporter.....also due to the treatment that some of these products go through...you can actually write off some of the beneficial bacterias as they get killed in the testing of the product.....yay I love the overgoverning we have here...but our friend cash does talk....and koi in WA/NSW is fine but not in QLD...it all makes sense.. my squashed dream products was this range of hikari...(apparently the bees kness for high quality goldies):
