noddy
Hi all Just wondering what the general tap water readings (pH, gH & kH) for Brisbane, Eatons hill specifically, once the tank has been cycled but without any additives/buffers etc. Looking at keeping Tanganyikans so just looking at how much I will need to buffer, if any. Cheers Trav
steve6610
if your going to keep tangs i'd buy a test kit, then you won't be guessing, but i'm in stafford heights and our ph is around 7.4/7.6, not sure on the others,
ozmo
If it is mainly the PH you are concerned with, simply elements that will buffer naturally. I use a dark substrate in my Frontosa tank which gets the PH up to around 7.8. I then have around 10 handfuls of broken coral pieces in the filteration system as well a several large chunks of coral hidden in and arround the Texas Holey rock which further buffers the PH to around 8.5. Hope that helps.
ozmo
And as Steve said... If you don't already have a test kit you definately need one.
pk333
You could try contacting Queensland Urban Utilities to see if they can tell you if they have done any tests in your suburb recently, and if they have, what the readings were. For those who know there chemistry. Water Quality Data 1 April 2012 - 30 June 2012 - SEQ Water Grid - Brisbane
