pk333
Make sure you find out the full costs involved. It's not just the Aquabid price, but also the import fees and quarantine fees, etc. A theoretical example, a $20 pair on Aquabid may end up costing you some where in the region of $55. leah
Bought a stunning trio of ATFG RREA Full Platinum HD Guppies from Fishchick Aquatics yesterday. Jodi-Lea has an excellent variety of show quality premium fancy guppies (as well as many other amazing fish) in her shop already for instant purchase. In my opinion (and we all know about opinions LOL), I think she has some of the best quality fish in Australia in her store. Her guppy stock list is regularly updated on her facebook page. Azedenkae
On the topic of importing fish, anyone here have personal experience with importing central americans from america?
pk333
1. They need to be on the allowable import list. 2. You need to have an importing licence. 3. You need to have access to a quarantine facility. All information can be found here. Import Conditions Database - ICON - AQIS Other points of note. The fish must have resided for a minimum of 14 days immediately prior to export in an Export Premises approved by a DAFF recognised Competent Authority in one of the exporting countries listed above. A veterinary certificate must accompany each consignment and must:... And a direct quote from another forum from some one who regularly imports fish in to Brisbane. It is almost impossible to get fish from the USA or Africa because of distance. Usually these fish are sent to Germany and are imported from Glaser. I highlighted the almost, as some one will likely pipe up with such and such does import x species from lake Tanganyika. The only Central American cichlid I recognise on Import List is Hypsophrys nicaraguense. There may be others I didn't pick up on my quick skim through. Azedenkae
Yeh, I know of that list, thought there was more CAs than Nics tho, prolly will have to reread it. :/ Though my question is not how (I got the vague details from the last few times I read the rules and regulations) but who imports fish (okay so not just CAs, but also SAs and others) from America. Braddo
The only one that may is jodie lea but I dont think anyone imports directly from America, there is also a list of countries that Australia is allowed to import from and Im not sure if America is on there. But I would contact Fishchicks and find out for sure if I were you.
Matmatmat
Hey guys, yep it's true fishchick is the one to see for aqua bid stuff.. But she isn't a sponsor so any more links posted are gonna get removed.. It's been made pretty obvious who to look up. Try google from here on out:)
pk333
The USA is one of the countries we can import from. But take in to account the quote above in my previous post is from Jodi-Lea. There are other importers out there. I believe Aquarama at Stafford import their own fish and have their own quarantine facility (or so I've been told). If anyone is going to know local importers I would hazard to guess it's likely to be the various Aquarium Clubs. People who have been in the hobby for decades and know each other and know who can get what. Ever hung around "old timers"? They have amazing stories. Some of these people are found in the various Aquarium Clubs. *Sorry Matmatmat, I was in post mode and watching a movie, and didn't read your post until after I posted this one. However I'm really trying to promote the clubs, such as Queensland Cichlid Group. Edited November 1, 2012 by pk333 *

Braddo
aquarama do have a q room and import fish but will only do it for their own store. Beacause of the costs involved to import fish. Jodie is the only one i really know that does it for individuals from aqua bid.
