SPINKS
hey guys got home yesterday and watched my red jewels spawn in my community tank. was so excited but now i don't know what i should do should i leave them in there and hopefully get some fry in a couple of months or because i have alot of spare tanks some how move the pot with the eggs attached into another tank. the only fish that seem to be bothering the female with the eggs are a demasoni about the same size and 2 venustus also the same size as the female. will any fry survive in this tank? also i know with african cichlids the female will not eat while holding eggs/fry. with my jewels will the female still eat while guarding this pot with her eggs attached. FillingTheSilence
I don't think fry will survive in that tank. Maybe move female and pot to a spare tank.
Betta
Make sure if you move the female & eggs that you fill the new tank with water from the tank they are in
Mel <:)))0o<
I have had jewels breed in a community tank before, and fend off all the other fish to protect their eggs even tank mates that were much larger. Once the babies started swimming tho the other fish started slowly picking them off when the parents had their backs turned so I had to move them. Do take Betta's advice and use the same water tho when you move them.
