J3NOVA
Hey guys, I've rattled my brain on this one, asked many fish stores, yet no one can help me, so I'm on here asking for help! I seem to have some sort of algae or fungus growing in my tanks and I'm not sure how to get rid of it. i have done water changes, ran algae cure through it, changed the filter setup, dropped algae blocks in, and yet it seems to stay around. Its a fresh water tank(225ltr approx) with 3 plecos, 2 ghost knives, and 4 angels. Water pH is at 7.2, temp at the 24 degrees, well aerated with driftwood and rocks It doesn't seem to be affecting the fish in anyway, but the plecos arn't eating it either. Its almost like a coral, growing on anything, even the algae blocks! i know its not from the driftwood, as I've had the wood in that, and different tanks for years. it seems to be releasing some kind of "spores" that float around the tank, then attach on to different objects and start growing. and the other strange thing is that it seems to grow in one area for a short time, then moves to a different area. Any help on how to get rid of this would be greatly appreciated! J3.

DeadFishFloating
Yep it slime mold, or a similar fungus. I was hoping it would be a sponge as I was going to ask for a sample but slime mold it is. There is an old method of control that insists adding garlic to fish food controls it hmmmm maybe try feeding spectrum thera A? But ya, chemicals will do more harm than good best to try change the water environment so its not optimal for it. What fish? you may be able to change salt or KH levels so water is ok for fish but unsuitable for mold
