quantum8
Hi guys, I was given a betta last night from a friend who said that it's probably been neglected more than it should have been... They gave it to me cause "I keep fish". Now I've never had bettas before (mainly kept loaches, cichlids and catties) and was wondering if the little guy is in good shape or not, and what sort he is? He seems to be fairly active and responds to me so I guess it's a good sign so far. I'll be doing a few waters changes over the next few days and hopefully move him into something a little bigger. Betta
He looks like a marble crowntail, looks a bit worse for wear but in pretty good condition, just him fins are a bit ratty. Crowntails are susceptible to bad water quality & it burns/dissolves their fin rays which I think might be the reason he's missing most of his. Still looks pretty healthy though
quantum8
hopefully he regains his former glory in a few weeks then!
Betta
He won't grow the fin ray extensions back but the webbing should grow back in a few weeks, just needs a bit of TLC
shaninja
If he was sitting still and not responding to you I'd be worried. But if he's active, he should bounce back with some care. Nice coloured fish!
