Aqua Addict
I think you should line the box with a bin bag, as I've heard some Styrofoams can be toxic to fish.
Matmatmat
Yep mate should be fine I've done it lots of times with Americans that size.. The water sloshes around and makes a slapping noise on the lid of the box as you go over bumps that will make you wince but the fish was always fine;) I've also had success with buckets and eskys.. Fish Junkie
Plastic buckets with lids one fish in each store them on the ground (where your feet go) drive straight there or no more than 5mins like getting fuel or cold drink They will be fine. It's only an hour that's not long Not keen on foam boxes in cars most do leak and even a little Aquarium water will smell FJ

The box is one that is approved for fish so it should be fine I'm mainly worried about the heat stress side of things
Druid
and if the box is old they can crack open under the water pressaure seen that done before at one of the auctions long time ago
dan486
i moved a few weeks ago, used eskies with a air pump. They were in there for a few hours with no problems.
Betta
You should be right, the styrofoam will insulate from the heat but take Aqua Addicts advice on the bag, if something happens to the box, ie cracks or leaks, you have a back up with the bag. I'd put a couple of loops of gaf tape around for a bit of extra strength. Personally I would use 20L painters buckets(clean new ones of course) lined with a bag, leave a lot of air & twist the top of the bag, then put the lid on & the lid holds the twist in the bag under pressure. As soon as you get to the other end, open the bucket & bag & get an airstone in there, they should be right for a while longer. I've moved hundreds of fish this way without any problems or spillages & some have been in the buckets for hours.
Matmatmat
I do prefer to use buckets in the manner FJ said.. But have also used styrofoam boxes but that being said I have a crappy car and don't care about water spills.. The bucket method is better IMO as it is a better shape to stop the water sloshing around is harder to damage and easier to carry. Oh be really carefull if you do use a bin liner as a bag to use one that has no anti bacterial or nice smelling chemicals..
adamski84
ive got a few large 240l bin liner bags that i can use one of the main reasons i dont want to use a bucket for is she is picking them up and i prob wont c her for another 6 months lol one of those types of friendships if she brings some buckets ill definately use them but all i have to use is the styro box as i only have 6 buckets and none of them have lids
