Fish Junkie
Depending what else is in there what about a couple of large cichlids they should clean them up quick smart FJ
goneself
Cane toad taddys are toxic, not sure how they'd go as fish food. Maybe try them on something expendable..ie Africans.
grubby
Rainbows will damage the eggs so they don't even get to the tadpole stage. Through some crimsons in for next time. Meanwhile catch all you fish out and drain it ???
ash
Maybe muck with the water chemistry? Like, say bomb it with some ammonia solution, that should get em all. Then water change and let it cycle again.
ash
Or bomb it with chlorine to a level which will kill them? Then water change and dose with prime? Or add a few heaters and raise the temp wayyyyy up. So long as all the other pond inhabitants have been temporarily relocated. If you make there environment toxic or unihabitable they should die, ive never dealt with em before so just throwing some ideas out there.

luckyfish
I hate the blasted things, I trip over them at night going up the path to the house and Baby Bella is so intent on trying to catch them, they're hideous creatures
luckyfish
Surely this is a native fish out there that'd eat them....what kind of large fish do you find in the creeks where eggs would be laid?
rainbowrunner
600 high off the ground? They shouldnt be able to get in there, They must be climbing something or jumping across from something. I have rainbowfish if you want, as grubby said there is evidence they damage the eggs. martib
The pond is full of rainbows. And yes I'm thinking they must have climbed something to get in. I think the only way for me to get them is with a net. Grrrrrr
shaninja
Would salt thrown directly on them do the trick?
shaninja
Apparently salt can kill them, but you need to use a lot. So I doubt the fish would like it. You could try to trap them, but not really sure what you could use as bait.
gassman
ok.....did you get em...kill em....????
grubby
A combo of metho and detol should do the trick
Baralga
I have controlled 98% of toads on my rural property by using 100% Dettol in a spray bottle.. They say its inhumane as it attacks their nervous system and apparently causes them alot of pain.. They jump away to mabe 5m and then just stop, die & dry up nicely.. So never spray within 10m a dam or waterway.. I dont think it would work for guppys tho...
DeadFishFloating
Toad tadpoles will clump together. You can herd them with a net and then get almost all in one scoop. I use to seine tens of thousands out of the local creek at a time. Like a 20L bucket full of shiny black poles per sweep. Figured it was the best way to put a dent in their numbers. You could likely build a bottle trap for them, baited with some decomposing leaves eg mullbery
Yoshi
once u catch them could u use the tadpoles for live feeding bigger fish? or are the tads poisonous
DeadFishFloating
Not many fish eat them, I think one species of turtle can. I throw them onto the bank for the ants, but you could use them as fertilizer.
martib
im going to pull it down, empy it and start again, they are eating my water lillies, ggrrr. i need to catch my appisto. so itsa good time to do it. they didnt bunch together as they usually do so it was hard to catch them, now they are randomly EVERYWHERE,bloody things
terry1
i have an 11ft boat that i have used for the past 8 yrs as a pond.not sunk in to the ground but have built gardens around it,toads were a great problem till i got a piece of trawler net and covered it.toads will hop on each others backs to reach bee hives,so height isnt a problem for them.toads are at there most dangerous stage at tadpoles or adults ,tadpoles will kill crocks.the venom from a toad kills snakes with a heart attack, when the toad first went through the gulf areas it wasnt uncommon to see a taipan skeleton with a toad body in its mouth .dettol is what i use to get rid of them.
