livepsycle
Hey Guys The tank I just bought (second hand) has a lot of calcium build up or something on the glass at the top of the tank. How do I get rid of this and make it all pretty again?
PETFISH
you cant get rid of it ,you can remove the white with rust converter but you will still have rainbow water mark but when full of water you cant see it.
livepsycle
Oh well. I don't like the sound of rust converter for health of a biological system. So I have funky wave patterns on the glass.

webmaster
Simple White vinegar will do the job, just spray i on and let it sit for a hour or so. If its really bad you can use hydrochloric acid also Also use magic white sponges to get it clean (they really work like magic on aquarium glass)

leah
Go the Magic Sponge thingy! They're great on tanks, and even better for built up soap scum on shower screens. It really works You can buy them at coles etc, I think they're called a Magic Eraser Sponge or something to that effect. However, best buy is from Bunnings, pack of 4 for about $5. Betta
The magic sponges are great but for anything a bit more crusty I use a scraper razor blade, very effective & you won't scratch the glass
Scuba Steve
another good product is cerium oxide. jewlers use it for polishing diamonds but it is amazing on glass. i used it to get the buildup off my 8 footer and it came up like new.
