Mitch86
If I was closer I'd buy them off you, they would have to behave themselves in my tank. Nice fish but! Love the character and attitude that comes with Americans. When mine get a bit bigger I'll be looking for nice homes myself for a few.
Azedenkae
Pink firemouths are no different from other Amphilophus such as Red Devils and the likes. They're mean things. Though I wouldn't say they're the definite culprit. Of all the fish I have, my Ellioti is one of the ones that chases other fish most often, and is actually responsible for more fish deaths than any other the others, close or maybe even moreso than a larger Red Bay Snook that is supposed to be a rather serious hunter. I've seen mine chomp down on Africans that doesn't even fit in its mouth and takes a few bits to eat so... yeah. I found out that Elliotis, although predominantly sand-sifters, are after all open swimmers and so will go for fish that swims by if they have the chance. In a tank, there's much less space for the prey to run away, so more chance of them getting eaten. Not saying it's the Elliotis (as yeah, can be the Pink Firemouth), but if it is the Elliotis I can't explain why your Ellioti (pair) haven't gone for the guppy and rummynoses didn't disappear sooner. BRISSY
My elliotis weren't aggresive at all, other than when they bred. Still, they never killed anything, ever guppies and smaller fish. Maybe because of tank size? And decor? Mine were in a 5ft eartheater tank with a large peice of melaluka. But I hope you find a home for them soon, and wish I had room and they sound and look like pretty cool fish
Azedenkae
A fish can be relatively non-aggressive but still be predatory. Might be because of tank size, or could be those Elliotis specifically.
Daharkazangel
My Elliotis are very peaceful except at each other......Im don't think I was them. Azedenkae if your up this way soon, your welcome to them As I know you have some already. If not think the petshop may end up with them, as shame as they are beautiful fish. Wish I researched a bit more now Epic mistake...
lochdan
I too would have said Ellioti were too peaceful and easy going to be your culprit but in recent days mine have gone on a killing spree. (Completely shredded a couple of large Columbian tetras and now starting on my sword-tails) ... There are some Ellioti babies in there but that's not a first ... my guys have had fry in the tank before with few issues. Could it be they're just getting older and grumpier or some things just set them off this time

Mine are not breeding, in fact they hate each other lol.
