trippa02
I hope not as I have a few pieces and have had them for years now. Maybe thats what that second bump that keeps growing on my shoulder is. In all seriousness this would be interesting to find out
Donny@ageofaquariums
Just something I remember from ages ago, always wanted to hit it with a giger counter to check on it........... https://www.google.com.au/search?q=%22woomera+rock%22+radioactive&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a
gpodge
trippa02 if you want to distance yourself from that rock and give that lump a chance to go down I would be keen to help you with it. Woomera rock used to be the only kind of rock you could get years ago, there was some really interesting shaped pieces around. I would love to get some of it
grubby
Just something I remember from ages ago, always wanted to hit it with a giger counter to check on it...........https://www.google.com.au/search?q=%22woomera+rock%22+radioactive&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a I was recently given some Woomera rock. I have a mate who owns a geiger counter, as he lived in Japan and he and the wife were worried about the radiation post Fukashima. I will borrow it some time and see. God I hope not, mind you everything has some sort of signature anyway.
billfish
Sorry to hijack but woomera is where the rocket range is and the woomera protected area is now an area of about 130000 sq km , an area about the size of Scotland. Maralinga is where the atomic testing was done . From memory theres about 7 mining companies in the PROTECTED AREA operating and the government wouldnt allow these to operate in a radio active zone for fear of having them selves sued .would they? So the rock could come from any where in the general area Woomera is about 400 km from Maralinga
litigator666
if you find any, I'll be interested as well. I'm looking at the possibility mutations with the radioactive effect of the stone. I hope not as I have a few pieces and have had them for years now. Maybe thats what that second bump that keeps growing on my shoulder is. In all seriousness this would be interesting to find out what fish do you have in there? Will be interested if you have mutants/super fish. trippa02
Lol no mutations or anything yet. Haven't grown a second head etc. fish are still kicking and breeding so can't be too bad. None of them look out of the ordinary either.
Robbo89
I suppose there's only one way to really find out... Give it to Yodapwnsasmurf to taste test! 😉
aquaholic99
Hi Gary, I have a single feature piece rock that is about 60cm and 3.5kg weight. Asking for $130 for it. Pick up only from Chelmer. PM me for more details.

aquaholic99
This is true woomera, as there are some copycats around. The collector requiring indigenous land owners permission to collect which is no longer available. It's from a remote rugged location so each piece needed to be carried out by hand to the 4WD truck, driven to train depot, packed, freighted up to Brisbane, collected and distributed to individual aquarium stores. I bought 2 tonne of that particular shipment and this piece stood out. Not too big/heavy, not too small. It's been in a couple of my tanks and has great colour pattern and shadows under light.
