Hi i was wondering if anyone knows where i ca get some silica fans the stuff they use in sand blasters, or pool filter sand because i hear its really clean from the bag n doesnt take much to clean. and that it settles quickly in the tank when disturbed.

Any one know of any where i could get either?

I use a very fine dark sand in my shellie tanks.....

It is very fine and is almost like mud when damp....if disturbed it clouds the water but cleans very quickly

as it seems to be heavy (if that makes sense) It tends to turm water alkaline which is ok in Tang tanks and shellies can move it around easily.

I prefer the darker colour...I believe fish colours are more intense

I get it from Mappins at Kenmore Hills

This is it as a substrate wth some occys

A lot of pool filter sand is zeolite....Red coloured natural rock that is very porous....quite sharp grains...not very fine

:esup::esup: I"m going to give out My State secret.:esup:

I was working once in Fortitude Valley. I think it was Skyring Tce or Vernon Tce.

You can't miss the place, the only thing they do is sieving sand. It comes from Frazer Is. on Barges.

I just went in with few bins and ask for some, normally they sell per ton to wholesalers.

They got about 7-8 dif. grades, I got the 3rd or 4th finest I think.

Good luck
