sjeffs
I am looking at buying 2 fibreglass 2 person spa bath blanks which hold approximatley 1000 litres of water as grow out tanks. These will be outside and I am wondering what is the best and cheapest way to filter these baths thanks steve
jimbozed
hi steve ive seen bathtubs mounted one on top of the other with the top one over flowing into the next. i would opt for a fish tub sitting on top of the higher tub fed by a pump from the bottom. Fill the tub with matrix or bio balls or even gutter guard with a spray bar.
ronny
yes jimbozed that style works very well if you are on a tight budget. The main question i have is WHAT you will be growing out in it. I find, for some species, half a dozen sponge filters and a heap of duckweed would work the best, along with regular gravel vac etc. Beauty of having to do more frequent cleaning is you will be doing more water changes thus reducing the amount of "growth inhibiting hormone' in the water, thus faster growing fish
