smicko
hi all i got a 4ft(l) 2ft(w) 18(d) tank that was split in half. i have removed the piece of glass that sepparated the tank and was wondering if i should put a cross brace on the top there is a little movement along the sides of the tank. but would like to leave the bracing out if i can just for ease of catching fish. cheers, mick

Fishyweare
mate your base should be 10mm glass for a 2ft wide tank 6 mm i don't believe this is up to standard if you were to use this tank i would have it sitting on a solid base for support . and yes i would be bracing it. this is only what i believe will try and find some specs for you cheers Paul. Trigger
hey mick yes you need a bridge front to back's on that as 6mm will bow in the centre when full a slight bump and it will explode, has it got the front and back rail's/braces to put a bridge on. cheer's. smicko
hi trigger, no it doesnt have rails for the bracing or for lids so i will have to put them in. i filled the tank up (out the back lol) and it was bowing 15mm in the centre so emptied it rather quickly. i am thinking of putting two braces in 350mm from each end about 200 wide this way i can have smaller lids and it should stop any bowing do you think that would work? its only for breeding so it doesnt need to look pretty. cheers mick

gtr73
From personal experience, anything over 2ft needs a center brace.
