EddieSalita
Lots of stuff will go with guppies. Most tetras, danios, rasboras, rainbows of all kinds, barbs (not tiger barbs), shrimps, ancistrus, peckoltia, small natives such as blue eyes, gudgeons and gobies, some cichlids like rams & kribs, thomasi, an other small peaceful american cichlids, loaches of all kinds, gourami's, goldfish, halfbeaks mountain minnows, glass cats, killifish... and a whole heap more that I cant think of in 1 minute. Braddo
due to guppies liking hard alkaline water, go with other livebearers most rainbow fis varieties cories, bn's barbs will handle it not tigers though. gouramies. I would keep away from the smaller dwarf cichids as most of these require soft acidic. So you taking your feeder fish to the next level lol. Good to see you wont be sorry. EddieSalita
due to guppies liking hard alkaline water Guppies Will tolerate a wide range of conditions. To say they like hard alkaline water is really somewhat misleading Braddo. They are perfectly at home in neutral or below & softer water. They are a VERY popular planted tank fish... co2 injected tanks are almost always on the acidic side. They will be just as happy in the conditions the dwarf cichlids prefer as slightly harder more alkaline conditions. Jason

Braddo
best plants are val, water sprite java moss and guppy grass if you can find them. Also if your going display best to keep males as they compete for females by chewing other males fins off so the one with the biggest tail fin gets the girl. I seperate my males from girls here to allow maximum fin growth before onselling. Just what Ive found anyway.

Braddo
To say they like hard alkaline water is really somewhat misleading Braddo. Ok so whats this then. you better do a bit more reading up on the livebearers I think. One of the reasons guppies dont last as long as they should is because of wrong conditions. They are just like every other fish they require certain conditions to look and display their absolute best. Considering guppies originated in slightly brackish conditions shoul tell you how they should be kept. With many of the new varieties though salt is not necessary but it is still wise to keep the alkaline and hard conditions for them. It is also the acidic conditions that produce many deformities. pisces
ah! diplomacy , clay you could try golden medaka also known as golden rice fish .They are another small live-bearer. They reach around the same size as a male guppy, less the fancy tail. The girls are slightly larger . Wouldn't keep the opposite sexes of either species together though as they can cross . They are fairly cheap and are a common import . The wholesalers have them most of the time , yet shops don't carry them as a rule .So you'll have to order them most likely from a good LFS . I reckon longfin white clouds would be a nice visual contrast .
