so last night i went to check on my tank upstairs and found out that there was no power running on the top floor of my townhouse after checking every powerpoint and the fuse box. found out i had blown a fuse, i have always thought to get a battery air pump but havent gotten around to it thinking i would never need it. lets just say i have got one ordered now but the african cichlids in my 4ft tank should be ok till this arvo when the electrican is coming out wouldnt they the filter wouldnt of been on for about 12 hrs now ????

I would expect your filter to be suffering from dead bacteria, and you are likely to be facing a cycle again.

I would be using my test kit to monitor the cycle. I may get lucky but better to be prepared for the worst and a cycle.

I would be giving my filter a good clean first of all.

I would be reaching for a good bacteria in a bottle to kickstart the cycle as I alreaddy have fish.

I would be reaching for a water ager that takes my ammonia and binds to ammonium that is not as toxic to fish.

I would be cursing a little as it does suck.

I wouldnt have sat around for 12 hours, i would of tryed to run a extension cord from downstairs ,neighbours or went out and bought a battery air pump.....Your lucky we have cooler weather fish would of being gasping by now....
